We kindly ask that everyone wear
all black, formal attire
to both our wedding and wedding reception.
Note: Please be mindful that our wedding ceremony will be a nuptial mass in a Catholic Church. The church runs cold so a shawl that covers your shoulders is a great idea. Thank you for your understanding!
Below are some great options for all-black formal attire for both men and women*!
*to make these outfits church appropriate, a shawl is a great idea :)
Please avoid the below options if possible...
Questions you may have about this:
Why?
We think this will look really nice in the photos! We also think black is a color you're likely to already have and be able to rewear.
Can I wear a color other than black?
Please don't.
Can I wear navy or dark blue?
Please don't.
Can I wear white?
Are you serious? Please, please don't.
Do men have to wear a tux?
Nope! A regular black suit is just fine :)
Do men need to wear a black shirt?
No - a white shirt under a black jacket is totally fine :)
What will happen if I wear a color other than black?
Nothing. You will likely really stand out but your presence is most important to us so if this is prohibitory to you coming please talk to us!
What does "church appropriate" mean?
In general, your shoulders are covered. It's December, so wearing a coat, shawl or sweater over your outfit is a great option for the church! When in doubt, just ask :) We are happy to receive a photo and give you ideas!
If I bring a shawl or shrug for the church does it have to be black?
Black would be perfect! A muted color would be good. A bright color or pattern will likely stick out in photos.
Can I change between the ceremony and reception?
Sure! If you'd like to wear something church appropriate for just the ceremony and then something else for the reception, go for it!
Wow, I didn't know you were so uptight. Are you ok?
No.
