Will you have an after-party?
We will not be hosting an "official" after-party. However, there is a hotel bar at the Sheraton which they said they can keep open for longer if there is demand.
Many bars in DC/Arlington would be fun! Clarendon is an area of Arlington that many people go out in.
Will there be an open bar?
Yes.
Can we pregame the ceremony?
Please don't.
Is it easy to get an Uber/Lyft in Alexandria and Arlington?
In general, yes! We don't usually wait longer than 5 minutes.
If you are worried about transportation to the reception from the Church there should be plenty of options.
Are there any public transportation options?
Yes - there is a metro. Google Maps can help you choose your route.
Are kids allowed?
Yes! Children of all ages are invited to both the ceremony and reception. We have included your children's names on the invitation so please fill out a separate RSVP form for them if they will be attending! Please be mindful that the ceremony will be over an hour long which can be challenging for small children. If this is a concern let us know and we can share some pro tips :)
Can I have a plus one?
We hope to have a small, intimate wedding which unfortunately does not allow every guest a plus one. If your name was written on the invitation then you are most definitely invited! If you think we missed anyone or want to know if we have room for your special someone, let us know and we can try to accommodate!
What is a Nuptial Mass?
This is a traditional Catholic Mass (celebrated by a priest) which includes the celebration of the sacrament of marriage.
Does Mass mean it is open to the public?
No - this will not be like a Sunday Mass in which every parishioner is invited to attend.
It will be like a Sunday Mass in ritual and celebration.
Will it snow in December?
It is very unlikely. The weather is hard to predict in this area - there are some Decembers where it is 75 and sunny and some where it is 40 and overcast.
For our California family - don't worry. Look at the weather 5 ish days before you pack your bags. Bring layers.
Will I make it home in time for Christmas?
It is really really unlikely that there will be some sort of significant winter weather event that keeps you here for Christmas. If that happens, it is truly an act of God.
Do I need a rental car?
Depends what all you'd like to do in DC!
The Church and Hotel are both <15 minutes from DCA and <30 minutes from nearby translations. Uber/Lyft is a great option!
DC has a car culture so it can be easier to navigate in a car.
